Hints and Tips
- Remedy the battle of the sexes in bed
- The Battle: Men tend to be 'hotter' than women & do
not like to sleep under a heavy quilt, whilst most women
equate weight to warmth.
- The Solutions:
- Sleep under a quilt with as much goose down as you can
afford.
- Use a cotton cellular blanket under relatively light
weight cotton, wool or a Dacron quilt. OR
- Buy the "Perfect Partner" quilt which has one
side with more wool fill weight than the other.
- Is any member of your household an asthmatics or allergy
sufferer?
- We recommend you don't use feather and down quilts
or pillows.
- Make sure your mattress protectors do not house mites.
- The
Asthma Foundation recommends purchasing Dacron based products.
- What do you recommend for young children?
- Dacron quilts are the best for children as they are
endorsed by the Asthma Foundation, dust mites cannot
live in this quilt and it is washable.
- Quilts that are reinforced (binding) around the outside
seam are also recommended,
as most children like to use their bed as a trampoline!
- What weight quilt should I buy my child?
- It is not advisable to use heavy quilts on young children
as children under 10 sleep 'warmer' than adults.
- What about winter? You can use the same quilt as
summer and incorporate a knitted 100% cotton jersey sheet
- a modern day flannelette, perfect to add warmth. If you
live in a very cold environment place a cotton cellular blanket
(hospital) between the sheet and quilt. These are available
in funky colours on TSLwebsite.
- Washing your latex pillow?
- If you wash a latex pillow - a pillow made of pure rubber
- make sure not to put it into direct sunlight to dry. Instead,
let it dry in a warm ventilated place.
- Drying Towels in the clothes dryer?
- If you are using a clothes dryer for your towels do not
set it too hot. Why? If there is polyester in the towel's
border the border could shrink, creating a "frill" at
each end.
- To avoid this problem altogether, we advise customers to
purchase towels without borders, like our thick ribbed towels.
- Some bras are more or less generous in the back. If you
find you need to go up a back size, usually you will need
to go down a cup size ie 10D is roughly a 12C.
- Purchasing a fully fitted mattress protector?
- Our stock has jersey walls which stretch well beyond the
35cm stated on the package and in our product information.
- We recommend you buy a quilt one size larger than your
bed.
- Why? Your quilt will look more opulent AND you will have
fewer fights with your partner over 'quilt stealing' mid
sleep.
